Co-owners in business, husband and wife in life, Larry and Diane Peters are proud of the plumbing company they started together, Tualatin Valley Plumbing. People ask why they are called Tualatin Valley Plumbing when they are really based out of Clackamas. Good question! The answer comes down to family. Larry gave up living in Sherwood, where he first came up with the name, so that Diane could live in Clackamas, close to her mom, Cathie. Today, Cathie is an integral part of the TVP family, working along-side Diane in the office. TVP really is family operated.
Despite coming from different backgrounds, Larry’s and Diane’s individual talents and skills complement each other beautifully. They have a shared vision with the same family-focused values at heart. The love, time, and dedication they put into the company has led to success. Above all, Larry and Diane consider their greatest accomplishments to be their two sons, daughter, and grandson. When the couple is not working, they like to spend time with their family and dogs. They also enjoy traveling together and are both certified scuba divers.

Larry served in the Army National Guard for three years before attending Chemeketa Community College for welding. He spent many years in Salem and Bend building houses. In 2004, Larry began his journeyman plumber apprenticeship and graduated in 2008 from Central Oregon Community College. When he moved to Portland in 2010, he was working as a plumber for a huge rooter company. Although he appreciated the technical experience, he disliked the impersonal nature of a large corporation. Larry believes there is a better way to do business, where people are more important than numbers.
Combining his passion for plumbing with his entrepreneurial instinct, Larry founded Tualatin Valley Plumbing in early 2018 with his wife, Diane. Besides being an owner, Larry is responsible for managing operations, field supervision, customer service, recruiting and hiring, and plumbing. In his free time, Larry enjoys boating, riding his Harley Davidson, and watching history documentaries. He also loves music.
“I like the freedom of owning my own company. I can have one-on-one time with customers without worrying about high pressure sales or answering to corporate, and I get to spend more time with my wife and children.” -Larry

Diane graduated from Portland State University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies. She worked as a high-school special education assistant for two years before returning to PSU, where she next earned a Master’s degree in Education. For over twelve years, Diane enjoyed working as a public-school teacher, especially the many years she spent teaching fifth graders.
Her education and work experience prepared her for the challenge of starting Tualatin Valley Plumbing with her husband, Larry. In 2019, Diane resigned from teaching to focus on her family.
As much as Diane misses working with students, dedicating more time to the couple’s youngest son has been worth the trade-off. She has since taken on the role of Office Administrator for Tualatin Valley Plumbing. Now, besides being a mom, her responsibilities include bookkeeping, marketing, human resource management, customer service, and IT technical support. In her free time, Diane enjoys playing piano, painting, and hiking. She is also obsessed with dinosaurs.
“I enjoy being part of a company that provides such an important service, and genuinely appreciates its customers, meanwhile building a future for our family, hopefully for many generations to come. Plus, I get to work with my best friend.”
